Prayer is the Fuel of Action

Operation Mobilisation is truly an international mission and its work is Global. Here are just some of the places where OM has been working in the last year:

In 2001 The OM ship Doulos visited the city of Cebu in the Philippines. The crew was moved at the number of children sleeping rough they promptly had an onboard fun day with food, games and gifts. This act of love inspired local Christians to continue the work it continues to this day.

In Costa Rica an OM team of medical workers travelled 16 hours to reach a remote indigenous reserve in Punta Burica, including a 5 hour mountain climb at the end. The normal distance to see a doctor is a 4 to 6 hour walk in the summer and 10 to 12 hours in the winter. During the day health care was available to the residents and in the evening they had a chance to explain why they had made the long journey. Activities were organised to communicate Jesus’ message of hope from God’s word. The team were overjoyed to have been able to introduce Jesus and His word as the healer of souls through medicine, time given and love shared.

Nepal is a country of mountains. OM teams take literature to remote villages and provide medical assistance. Many people are open to God’s word. One of the women’s teams working with a local Nepali church had a renewed passion to pray for people they met. Raj was a man who had been paralysed for three years and couldn’t walk or talk. He had made his way to the weekly church service and the ladies team spent hours praying over him. Nothing happened directly but two days later the team heard that Raj was now mobile and speaking again. He now regularly attends the church.

In Taiwan 2 girls came on board the Doulos, to the Music around the World Café. One of the OM team from Switzerland spoke to them, “I feel peaceful when I read the Bible” the conversation deepened and the girls were given Bibles. Another crew member was singing about the promised return of Jesus as the girls were led to faith in Him.

In Birmingham UK, ‘Lifehope’ trains Christians in showing and sharing God’s love. Lifehope runs a number of different weekly activities for children, door to door visits, friendship evangelism and a book table ministry.

One young girl said to the OM workers “I thought all white people are Christians, but since I have met you I now know that true Christianity is more than what we see in England. Your religion is in your heart.” “We have many contacts and talk openly about our faith. I am thrilled I can be a servant of my Lord here in this community.”

Friends pray for the OM ministry, the teams and the people they meet. Encourage your heart. The Lord is working in many places around the world.
